Welcoma
Honest comparison · As of June 2026

Welcoma as a OneTap alternative.

OneTap is a solid tool — and for some, exactly right. Here we compare fairly, including the points where OneTap is strong, so you make the choice that fits you. Spoiler: it mostly comes down to your platform and how serious you are about real accessibility.

Which tool when?

So you don’t have to read the whole page — the honest short version:

Welcoma — the better choice if …

… you run Shopware, WooCommerce or several platforms, want a German-native BFSG focus and really want to implement accessibility — instead of just covering it with an overlay.

OneTap — the solid choice if …

… you use WordPress only, are looking for an established, widely installed toolbar plugin and prefer a one-time payment model. For pure WordPress sites, OneTap is a serious option.

No tool is ahead everywhere. OneTap scores on maturity, languages and the one-time price; Welcoma on platform breadth, DACH focus and the honest, scanner-driven path.

Staying fair

Where OneTap is strong.

An honest alternative doesn’t hide the other side’s strengths. This speaks for OneTap:

Established & proven

On the market since 2016 and, by its own account, used on over 60,000 websites — with real reviews and a free version on WordPress.org.

Deep in WordPress

Tailored specifically to WordPress, compatible with common page builders — and with a large range of operation tools.

Pay once

The “Use Forever” model and the agency lifetime packages are especially attractive for agencies that want to avoid recurring costs.

The difference

Where Welcoma is ahead.

Three things a pure WordPress overlay can’t match:

More than WordPress

WordPress and WooCommerce today, Shopware and further shop systems planned. In DACH e-commerce in particular, that’s a field OneTap doesn’t compete in.

Honest instead of fake

The scanner approach (in preparation) finds real errors and shows the code spot. Even today the free scan gives an honest picture — instead of just laying an overlay on top.

DACH-native on BFSG

German company, German language, clear focus on BFSG and EAA — close to the requirements that really apply here.

The real difference is in the attitude.

An overlay lowers barriers and helps with documentation — but it doesn’t fix the causes. You only become compliant once the real issues are solved. Welcoma is built to support exactly that, instead of covering it up.

FAQ

Welcoma vs. OneTap

Which tool is better for WordPress?

Both work on WordPress. OneTap is tailored specifically to WordPress and established; Welcoma covers WordPress too but goes beyond a pure toolbar and additionally supports WooCommerce as well as — planned — further platforms.

And for Shopware?

Here Welcoma is the choice: OneTap is WordPress-only and doesn’t compete for Shopware at all. More on the “Accessibility for Shopware” page — and the free scan already works for any Shopware store today.

Is Welcoma cheaper than OneTap?

It depends on the model. OneTap uses a one-time payment, which is attractive for many projects. Welcoma offers a free entry and ongoing development. Which is cheaper depends on the number of sites and the duration of use.

Does an overlay widget make my site compliant?

No — that goes for any overlay, no matter the provider. A widget lowers barriers and helps with documentation, but doesn’t fix the causes. You only become compliant once the underlying issues are solved.

Can I switch from OneTap to Welcoma?

Yes. Since both solutions work without deep changes to your site, switching is straightforward. Best to start with the free scan to see where your current status is.
